The Toronto Golden Jets is an outstanding water polo club for players of all age group levels (ages 7-19 years) as well as senior level based at the University of Toronto and led by two-time Olympian George Gross, Jr.
The Toronto Golden Jets club is committed to the vision of its founder. He believes in water polo as a lifelong sport and in the importance of developing skills in all players, regardless of ability. Part of this development is also learning crucial life lessons about teamwork, dedication and cooperative behaviour in a group dynamic. His ultimate goal for the age group program is to develop players able to compete at university-level water polo programs, where they can make a meaningful contribution and continue to enjoy the sport.
Since its inception in 1980, the club has won five National Men’s championships and five silver medals as well as numerous Provincial titles. The team has hosted and played against the national champions of Hungary, Greece, Italy and Germany. Senior women (added in 1982) won silver at the National Championships along with mulitiple Provincial Championships. In the 1980s, the boys’ age group program won the Provincial championships three years in a row and helped the club win the overall club points championships all three years. The age group program was revived in the early 2000s and has recently yielded back-to-back National U19 Boys Final four finishes and several players elected to the junior National Teams training camps.
The club trains at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre and it is closely aligned with the university. Most of the senior players are on the U of T team and many of the players graduating high school move on to attend U of T, an academic institution ranked in the top 25 worldwide.
The Toronto Golden Jets provides a rare opportunity for players of all levels to train together in a fun, healthy environment, to make friends and to learn from each other. Join now and experience the joys of water polo with the Toronto Golden Jets!
